Preventive care
Preventive care and health programmes
Tests worth having before you start feeling unwell — all free of charge and available without a referral.
Cervical cancer screening — high-risk HPV test
From 1 August 2026, a free high-risk HPV test replaced conventional cervical cytology in the cervical cancer screening programme. The test detects high-risk human papillomavirus — the cause of the disease, rather than its effects — making it more effective and allowing longer intervals between tests.
- Who is it for? women aged 25–64.
- How often? every 5 years, or after 12 months if indicated.
- Referral: not required.
- Cost: free — the test is funded by the National Health Fund (NFZ).
Taking the sample is quick and feels the same as a cervical smear. If the result is positive, liquid-based cytology (LBC) is performed on the same sample — there is no need for a second visit. A normal LBC result means another test in a year; an abnormal result leads to a referral for further investigation or treatment.
The test is available at obstetrics and gynaecology clinics contracted with NFZ and selected primary care clinics. Call reception — we will check your eligibility and guide you through the next steps.
Moje Zdrowie — an adult health check
This programme follows earlier schemes such as Profilaktyka 40 plus, but is broader and delivered through your family medicine clinic. The idea is simple: every few years, you have a set of tests and meet with your doctor to discuss the results — before you start feeling unwell.
- Who is it for? any insured person aged 20 or over, with no upper age limit.
- How often? every 5 years at ages 20–49, and every 3 years from age 50.
- Basic tests: full blood count, blood glucose, lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL and triglycerides), creatinine with estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), TSH and urinalysis.
- Additional tests — depending on age and results: liver function tests, anti-HCV antibodies, lipoprotein(a), PSA for men over 50 and a faecal immunochemical test (FIT) for colorectal cancer from age 50.
How to join: start with a short questionnaire about your lifestyle and family medical history. Complete it yourself in Internetowe Konto Pacjenta (IKP) or the mojeIKP app, or visit us and we will do it together at reception. You then receive a referral for tests, followed by a review appointment at which the doctor discusses your results and prepares an Individual Health Plan.
Cardiovascular disease prevention (ChUK)
A free programme for people who have not been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease. It includes a discussion of lifestyle and family medical history, blood pressure, height and weight measurements, and blood tests for total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides and glucose.
At the end, the doctor discusses your results, assesses your risk and refers you for further tests if needed. No referral is required to join — simply call reception.
Routine child health checks
A routine health check assesses whether a child is developing as expected: height, weight, vision, hearing, posture, speech development and physical abilities. These checks are free and are carried out by a family doctor together with a nurse.
Reception will remind you when the check is due. If you are unsure whether your child needs one this year, simply ask by phone.
Vaccinations
We provide mandatory childhood vaccinations according to Poland’s vaccination schedule — these are free. Before vaccination, a doctor examines the child to check for any contraindications.
We also offer recommended vaccinations, including flu vaccination. Some are paid for privately or partly reimbursed — please ask reception about current arrangements and availability.
Care for people with long-term conditions
Patients with long-term conditions — high blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid disorders or asthma — receive ongoing care from their family doctor. This includes regular follow-up appointments, monitoring tests and repeat prescriptions.
Ask at reception
You do not need to wait for an invitation. Just ask about any of these tests.
