How primary healthcare works
What family doctor care includes, how to register, when we offer same-day appointments and where to get help when we are closed.
Who provides your care
In primary healthcare, you submit separate declarations selecting three professionals: a doctor, a nurse and a midwife. You can choose all three at our clinic or only some of them.
What family doctor care includes
- in-person and telephone consultations;
- diagnostic tests ordered by your family doctor;
- referrals to specialist clinics and for tests;
- e-prescriptions, e-referrals and electronic sick leave certificates;
- care for people with long-term conditions;
- mandatory childhood vaccinations and routine health checks;
- home visits when your health prevents you from coming to the clinic.
All these services are free of charge — funded by the National Health Fund (NFZ).
Booking and appointment times
You can book by phone or in person at reception. In other cases, we arrange the earliest possible appointment.We offer same-day appointments for urgent cases.
If you cannot attend your appointment, please call us. The slot can then immediately be offered to someone who is waiting.
Telephone consultation
A telephone consultation is a full medical consultation — the doctor can issue an e-prescription, e-referral or electronic sick leave certificate afterwards. If an issue cannot be resolved by phone, the doctor will arrange an in-person appointment. This is a medical decision, not a refusal to help.
A telephone consultation does not replace an in-person appointment for a new health complaint that needs examination, for children under 6 except at follow-up, or whenever a physical examination is necessary.
When we are closed
Our clinics are open Monday to Friday, 8:00–18:00. Outside these hours, at weekends and on public holidays, care is provided by the night and holiday healthcare service — on-duty facilities designated by the National Health Fund (NFZ). This care is free; you do not need a referral or to be registered there.
Reception can give you the address of the nearest service, or you can call the Patient Information Helpline on 800 190 590.
In a life-threatening emergency, do not wait — call 112. This includes severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, speech difficulties or limb weakness, head injuries and severe bleeding.
Changing your clinic
You can change your clinic at any time. A third or subsequent change in the same year involves a fee payable to the National Health Fund (NFZ), unless you are changing because you have moved or your previous clinic has closed. Reception can tell you the current fee.You can do this free of charge twice per calendar year.
To register as our patient, simply submit a declaration at one of our clinics — find addresses and phone numbers here.
